About Me

Joseph Aaron Goulding Photographer, Frontman and Ocean Lover
Before I tell you about me, I’d like to thank YOU for visiting my site. Hopefully you have found something that makes you smile or at least intrigues you.
I guess you can say I have done many things. I have done more than most, and I have had a large variety of work experiences. The many people that know me really well will tell you that I am very diverse in my day by day life and that I will always have a good story to tell. I have always been in search of myself, but there is one thing that has always tugged at my heart…passion. I have a deep passion for capturing images with still and video cameras, making music, and being on the ocean’s edge.
Biography
Aaron Goulding has been an avid photographer since 1991. His father owned a camera store in Los Angeles. He never saw him much but late in 1990 he bought his first camera from his father. It was a 35mm Nikon F50. He still has this camera in his collection and uses it once in a while. Most of Aaron’s photo accomplishments at that time consisted of empty waves, surfing and bodyboarding. A couple of Aaron’s best friends were very good at capturing images. Aaron learned a great deal from them, by first organizing his friends’ slides and later taking on the task of an agent by getting many of their images published in Bodyboarding Magazine, Bodyboarder International Magazine and Surfer’s Journal. One friend in particular emphasized on “The Wedge” (Newport Beach). Aaron often shot from land while his friend shot from the water. Aaron could never afford a water-housing, so he soon began barrowing his friend’s camera and housing and even managed to get one of his own shots published. “I owe a lot to Taylor Amick and Joe D. Foster for teaching me so many things about photography.” said Aaron.
In 1992, Aaron went on to become a professional bodyboarder ranking second in the state, and fourth in the nation in his Pro-Amateur Division. Some of his surf travels include Hawaii, Fiji, Costa Rica, and Australia. In 1994, Aaron moved to Scandinavia to sign a record deal with his newly formed band, Pridebowl. They went on to release 7 albums and tour 25 to 30 countries on 4 continents, with the help of publishing company Warner/Chappell-Warner Brothers. Aaron captured every image he could with a newly purchased video camera, and he took many photos with his Nikon. The band had some great times and created some unimaginable memories.
In 1998, the band split up and Aaron moved back to California. Aaron struggled to find himself again, but his true friends were always there for him. They supported everything that he tried to do, but soon Aaron began to lose interest in photography and became even more involved in music forming two new bands and touring abroad. In 2000, Aaron moved to San Diego to live with his girlfriend, now fiancée, but it wasn’t until late 2006 that Aaron’s passions began to tug at him again. He purchased all new video and camera gear. It took him a few months to get used to digital images but he feels comfortable with it now.
In 2008, Aaron received his business license for JAG MEDIA PRODUCTIONS, where he now creatively captures San Diego scenic’s, landmarks, Surfing, Bodyboarding, Bands, and more. You can meet him in person at his booth at The La Jolla Open Aire Market located at The La Jolla Elementary School on Sundays from 9am. to 1pm.
