Why not one more:
Another tissue culture project I have in mind is the opium poppy. Not to extract opium from, of course, as that would be against the Law and therefore bad, evil, and wrong. Raising the poppy isn't illegal, I think, or they'd have to arrest lots of southern housewives growing pretty houseplants and making poppyseed muffins. Though apparently having the awareness that the pretty houseplant does in fact contain in its molecular depths the keys for that most foul of mind-candy does somehow make growing the poppy illegal? As in, if you don't know your poppy can make heroine, it's legal, but if you do, you go to jail. Weird but unsurprising that the Law says ignorance is good but knowledge is bad. Beautiful, though with the above that's redundant. Able to keep up with my thoughts and to hold them down when they race out of control. And likes ice cream. And raw bunny rabbits. On ice. And who's not afraid to get colorfully wet.
