About Me

My first novel, THE BELLY DANCER, will be published by Berkley Books in July 2009. It's the story of a young woman caught between her Victorian morals and a growing fascination with the scandalous Egyptian belly dancers who performed at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

This is the cover artwork for the novel.
I also blog about writing and publishing at http://DeAnnaCameron.blogspot.com.
And about belly dancing, mostly in Orange County, Calif., at http://ScribblingGypsy.blogspot.com.
If you ever head over to Facebook, you can find me there, too. I hope you'll stop by and say hi :-)
This summer I took a belly dance pilgrimage of sorts to what I consider the birthplace of American belly dance. I made this videologue to mark the trip
And now for something completely different, check out this great video of what belly dancing used to look like... before all the rhinestones and shiny beads.
