About Me

My son's new (temporary) hairstyle

Just earned his yellow belt!

I believe there are things worth fighting for. I would fight to protect my family and friends. I would fight for the honor of a woman. I teach my son that nobody is allowed to hurt him and that he needs to know when it's ok to fight back. But more importantly, martial arts teaches you how not to fight. Traditional martial arts training is about making yourself a better person physically, mentally, and spiritually. Organized martial arts systems were created by peaceful buddhist monks at the Shaolin Temple in China over 1000 years ago. But why would these monks, who teach never to kill a living thing, develop a deadly art such as kung fu? It's because they believed there are things worth fighting for! They fought for their religious freedom.

My Interests

I love training in and teaching martial arts, kempo, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, grappling, self defense. Also watching MMA and play-fighting with my son. But when I'm not doing anything martial arts related, I enjoy playing XBOX 360, editing home videos, hanging out at my neighbor's garage, getting into people's minds, discussing politics, discussing religion, jogging, dream-building, military history books, sneaking up on you, pizza at Newport Beach, Barnes & Noble, barbecues, star gazing, driving my Jeep Wrangler down PCH, playing tricks.

I'd like to meet:

People that have a passion about something are the ones I would like to meet most. That's what makes you interesting anyway, que no? Right now, most of my myspace friends are people that are crazy about martial arts but you don't have to be.
