About Me

Tapping into the long tradition of catchy hooks, punchy lyrics, and unforgettable melodies forged by pop music's greatest songwriters, 26-year-old Wes Walls delivers a sound of singer-songwriter style complexity, soaring anthemic choruses, and straight-ahead Britrock. For ten years, Wes has been crafting his skills in writing and performing, taking the stage in various incarnations as a solo acoustic act and frontman for his own rock band. After a year studying journalism in university, Wes - armed with catchy songs, passion, and determination - took a chance and decided to pursue a career in music. Knowing he would need an edge to succeed, he enrolled in the Selkirk College's Contemporary Music and Technology School, graduating two years later with a wide set of new skills and talent. Yearning for life experience, Wes took a year to travel Europe with his guitar, settling in London and playing regular gigs as a solo act. He returned to Canada when his time was up, and planted his feet in Vancouver, where he joined a rock band called Whitfield as lead guitar player. He eventually put together a rock group of his own, called weswalls, and became a regular on the Vancouver indie band circuit. Throughout 2006 they played a solid string of gigs, gaining invaluable real-world experience. But after a year, he knew a change was needed, and moved to Montreal to set up a small studio and record self-produced demo tracks. Armed with a brand-new killer demo, Wes is gaining new fans and reaching as many ears as possible. With a fresh sound and stay-in-your-head songs, Wes Walls is poised to take it to the next level...

My Interests

Band Members: Wes Walls - everything (for now)
Influences: I look to John Mayer for inspration in lyrical poetry and soul, occasionally the odd killer chord. Pop-Rock's singer-songwriters like Howie Day, KT Tunstall, Sam Roberts and Ryan Adams figure hugely. But the real source is in Britrock like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Travis, Oasis, Stereophonics... And then there's anything that catches my ear, from Supertramp to Pink to Mika. It all finds its way in somehow.
Sounds Like: A pop-infused mix of catchy and upbeat Britrock like U2, Stereophonics, or Travis, soaring anthemic choruses of Coldplay or Oasis, with the singer-songwriter style complexity of John Mayer or Howie Day. The songs of Wes Walls bring together elements of British pop and soulful depth to create driving, melodic songs with catchy, singable lines and exciting rhythm, and lyrics that catch the essence of its theme and condenses it into pure, sure-to-stay-in-your-head pop music. Watch out for new songs and new recordings!
