Stretcher Case

About Me

STRETCHER CASE was formed by Kris Daniel (Fernald) in the 1990's as a platform to showcase his solo work. In 2001 STRETCHER CASE became a 4-piece band that recorded and performed live around NYC's East Village and other parts of Manhattan. Jonny Perl (http://myspace.com/mistyroses) was an integral part of this era, contributing his talent on guitar, organ and sax. Jonny was an invaluable creative influence to the project. Tom Collins, Joe LeSage, Martin Neinstadt, and Willis Bowen were also crucial elements of the live show. STRETCHER CASE was short lived as a live band and the performing outfit officially disbanded in 2002.
Despite Kris' attempts to occasionally bury the creature, it just won't stay dead! It has been resurrected in various forms and locations over the years.
STRETCHER CASE continues as a moniker which is applied to songs that don't quite fit with Kris' other projects. The numbers you find here are mostly gritty garage/surf instrumentals, but you may also find a few pieces that are not so easily categorized. Kris wrote/performed/recorded all of the songs on this page with the exception of "The Neck Verse" and "Black Cat Bone", which Jonny Perl played some very tasty guitar on and helped mix. Tom Collins supplied the back beat (some of which has been chopped-up, mutilated and regurgitated for other songs).
Kris has played with: The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Dimestore Dance Band, Ssion, 245 Trioxin, The Broken Umbrellas (a Stretcher Case mutation), Kung-Fu Monkeys, and supplied the live/recorded music for Kembra Pfahler's late '90's performance art pieces (some of which ended up on a BBC special), etc, etc.. He currently plays guitar, organ, and random other instruments for RAGWATER REVUE (http://www.myspace.com/ragwaterrevue)
Thank you for checking this out! Hope you Enjoy!
