Hot B was born as Mbaye diouf on October 6th 1980.
In 1997, Hot B started taking music as a real field of life – writing lyrics and rapping at relatively small events and shows in his locality. In 1998, he recorded his first two promotional tracks entitled “Slavery†and “Drugsâ€. This he did with a group called African Black Dolee. During this period, he started gaining resounding popularity in the streets and within his local community.
However, living at a time when society chooses what you should do was tough. For every one expects you to be a doctor, a lawyer etc. as such, music was really a very strange choice. That being the case, his father was not the least interested in having him do music. So he would usually tell to find something better to do, rather than waste his time idling.
Notwithstanding, Hot B was already so involved and passionate about music. “It was like a virus in my blood, and it can’t be curedâ€, he said.
Essentially, in 1999, he a group called Kalama J. “The crew was brilliant, we did good stuff togetherâ€, Hot B.
After two years, the group went into extinction, and Hot B had to go solo, doing things on his own. “This gave me the opportunity to express myself better and explore greatlyâ€. This when we released the widely acclaimed single “MC bulldoffâ€.
Whilst in Dakar, in 2005, he joined the Gang-fu 39-45. Gang-fu is an independent squad that specialized in creative arts and hip-hop music.
The following year, whilst in The Gambia, was a total year of hard work for Hot B, as this was the time he was working on his first album “Love and Peace – Senegambiaâ€. This album recorded and mixed at the Xalam studios in Bakoteh was well received by all and sundry. As such, it enabled him arouse greater recognition through interviews and coverage both in the electronic and print media.
Importantly, Hot B is now working on his second album, which shall be called “Yengoul Baye allaa joodoâ€. “As a real talibe Baye Niasse, this album is a total dedication to him†he said.
Speaking on his new album, Hot b said it shall be a 13 track album and will widely feature the participation of the Gang-fu 39-45. This one is also being recorded at the Xalam studios by his bro Omar Traore a.k.a Zap and the dexterous Flx man. “The album is gonna present variety, suitable for everybodyâ€, he said.
Hot B is one of the hottest and most proficient and fluent musicians in the Senegambia region. His style of weaving his lyrics in Wollof, carried along well artistically created Rap Afro beat always makes him stand out.
