About Me
..At the start of 2001 Paul, Yves & Koen (formal members of Nephritis and Mesomorph) joined forces to start a new style of Hardcore band.
As at every beginning of a new band, minds must be set at the same direction. By accident, one of them met Vincent in a local guitar shop. The shop-owner got them in contact & Vincent got interested in this new project and hooked up instantly. Out Of Reach was a new journey for all of them. New goals to achieve, targets were set & off they went. No strings to hold back their thoughts & feelings...
After a few months of song writing & rehearsing, it was clear that all minds were set as one and becoming stronger by the day. At the time of six months after the band started, the first show was played at a local, but well known venue near Ghent. The amount of live-shows started to become larger by the day, as well as the shows are getting bigger by this time. This was the moment for the band to start thinking of recording some of the material. For this job they went to M&M Studios, Paul and Koen had already worked in there with their previous bands, so it was easy to find a good location to make the first album. While recording, Out Of Reach got some vocal help by Andy (D.F.T.C.) & Ludwig (M.C.L.) for the track of ’Hardcore Lives’... The atmosphere was set, amps cranked up... This album was a total dedication towards all the friends and family for the support & unconditional love throughout the years. Even before Out Of Reach was born...
After the independent release of the ’Out Of Reach’ album, even more shows booked the band for it’s own style of music. Hardcore..? Yes, although not really ... No one was able to define the sound and attitude of the band. Goal one completed! There were also a lot of support acts coming up, such as for: Backfire, Discipline, Barcode, Strychnine, and many more... In a contest close to the German border, they’ve won the first price given by the crowd. Later that night the first show abroad Belgium became reality, supported by a local band Out Of Reach played in Duisburg (Germany). This was a complete new experience and the boys decided that the band will be playing more in this type of venues... Especially Germany...
At this point the band gained an appetite for more... And the first, full album was recorded. Again they turned to M&M Studios because of their professional approach towards the music & the family-style contact with the band. This time the album was released by Koen’s label called Frontline Records. Which had already released the ’Flemish Hardcore’ compilation where Out Of Reach was one of the bands that participated this project. Shortly after recording the ’Broken Trust’ album the band had no time for holiday... Show after show they played across Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Poland...
In between all of this live-violence, they took two days off to record a new song and a cover song from the band Ryker’s. The cover song will be put on a compilation album released by a German label around summer 2006. The release was delayed several times and the new date would be summer 2008. Everybody is anxiously waiting for this album to be available in stores. Other bands working on this compilation are bands as Hatesphere (RIP), Spider Crew, Only Attitude Counts, Barcode and many others including (of course) Out Of Reach.
During summer 2006, Koen decided to leave the band for a spot in an Ypres-band named Retaliate. Urgently the rest of the members started to look for a new bassplayer, so they could still play the shows that were booked at that moment. Fortunately they didn’t have to wait long before they found a new brother in crime. Frederick was playing with Paul in a Death Metal band, it didn’t take long to switch his mind and started playing Out Of Reach as a second band. As with all bands, a new member means that this person needs to learn all the songs and that takes time... Lots of time...
2007 was a very quiet year for the Out Of Reach family, for a couple simple reasons; One: Frederick needed to learn all songs from beginning ’till end. Even the really old ones as well as the cover songs we do and a few new things. Two: Everybody needed to catch his breath, ’cause a lot of things had changed during all these years. Yves became father for the second time, Paul & Vincent (finally) found true love & Frederick is still in school so he couldn’t do all the things we were used to. Or at least not all the time... Three: There was a problem writing new material, especially with the part of writing music. Lyrics weren’t even important back then as there was no tune to sing on...
At the start of a new year, a new flow of energy has forced this band back into business. Driven with that same feeling as when the band started in 2001, anno 2008 Out Of Reach has written new song, in their traditional ’O.O.R.’-style... Yes, it is still Hardcore, but in their own indefinable style... These new songs are way more stronger than the material on the ’Out Of Reach’ & ’Broken Trust’ albums. As with all bands and quality wine; it’s getting better by the years... A new year has begun, a new breath for Out Of Reach. As shows are getting booked, this band will march upwards in the scene and strike back to those who lost believe in Hardcore and its bands.
