Most travellers tend to do the basic group tour of Rome, Florence, and Venice. Avantitalia shows you the deeper, more traditional side of this beautiful country.
Just as Rome was not built in a day, neither can you see Rome in three days! What has happened to the group tour industry is deplorable. Groups of forty and fifty people are crammed into buses, and hauled from one place to another, generally with a different hotel every other night. And what have you seen? Two or three major attractions, a very sterile hotel that is lacking in character, and a meal inside the hotel ... and you paid for that!
With Avantitalia the group size NEVER exceeds thirty people. Attention and individualized service is a top priority, so group sizes MUST be small. With over 70 properties at our disposal, you will not be at a "sterile-americanized" hotel. The properties range from small two-bedrooms (for the person or couple that wants a planned itinerary and escorted tour) to countryside villas and working farms; from intimate pensione (where the owners ensure we are the only guests, and ply us with all sorts of home made goodies daily) to luxurious seaside villas overlooking the Tyrhennian Sea.
All meals are included in the cost of the tour. These are not bland, hotel meals, either! The true richness of Italy is found in its culture and its foods; therefore, everything we eat is "fatto en casa", homemade. You will have the opportunity to eat the light morning breakfasts as the Italians do, followed by lunches in quaint trattorias, and dinners in wonderful local restaurants.
Isn't it amazing how these groups expect you to survive on a roll and coffee every morning and 1 lunch or dinner for an entire week?!
Another way that the other companies get you is the added fees paid for their optional activities. With Avantitalia nothing is optional. Each day you will awaken to a variety of possiblities to choose from ... a cooking class, or sightseeing? ... Shopping, horseback riding? Roaming the city streets alone? ... Tours are "all-inclusive". Once you arrive at the property, there is no reason to bring out your wallet except to buy a souvenir.
