HEMA

About Me

HEMA is a Portland based rock band whose members started jamming together in early 2008. The band consists of musicians who have known each other for a while, but due to other projects did not settle on this line up until now. Every member has played in other bands around the Portland area. One of the most interesting aspects to HEMA is the drummer's style. Scott Andergard can pull of some pretty amazing things having only one hand to drum with. It truly is "amazing what a little duct tape can do."The name "HEMA" has a dual meaning. It refers to the lifeblood that flows from melodic transformation. One song can breath new life into an individual. Coincidentally, it is also an acronym. The band members are:Jason Henderson-vocals/guitar Ryan Estep- Bass Mike Munter-Vocals and guitar Scott Andergard-DrumsThe style of music can be described as contemplative. If an acoustic grunge band met with members of a Brit pop band and decided to write some tunes, the music might sound a bit like HEMA. The members influences are all over the place genre-wise. This versatility helps them create recipes for simple chill out dishes as well as complex multi-course meals.I encourage you to check out HEMA. Their music is sure to flow through you.
