Artists
Steve Parkin
Charismatic yet classic in attitude, quirky yet accomplished in song - Steve Parkin's natural talents as a singer-songwriter are evident both live and on record.
With a wealth of experience and success under his belt, Parkin has now formally branched out on a solo path.
Recently signing to new music incubator, Dirt Diamonds Productions, Parkin took an album's worth of new tunes to the studio in early 2008. Working alongside producers Joel Quartermain, Kav Temperley and Stuart MacLeod and engineer Andy Lawson, rich and vivid yet classic pop songs have emerged.
Keen to take his new tunes all around Australia and determined to continue on from his successes with previous bands, Autopilot and Steve Parkin and the Foreign Films, as well as, the well-received solo LP "Sandytown", Parkin is no stranger to the stage. Parkin has performed at major Australian festivals and supported major Australian and international touring artists. Headed back to the bright lights this year, Parkin is poised for a year of touring.
Ben Witt
Young and eager, Ben Witt has already begun to make a name for himself as a singer, songwriter and outstanding guitarist. After cutting his teeth in blues clubs as a teenager, he entered his years of formal music study at university with experience most would yearn for.
With a musical style that melds pop with jazz discordance and creative time signatures sided by resonating vocals, his craftsmanship clearly stands out on the stage.
After teaming up with fellow music students to create, The Chemist, the four-piece entered the prestigious Next Big Thing Competition, won their heat and ended up runners up in the competition. Now, over a year down the track, The Chemist has supported the likes of Birds of Tokyo, End of Fashion, Sugar Army and The Basics.
The Chemist’s critically acclaimed song, Stars, produced by Luke Steele (Sleepy Jackson/Empire of the Sun), was posted on Triple J unearthed last year and received significant airplay on the youth network nationally, along with acclaimed reviews through various press outlets.
So, with praise for a captivating live show, Ben Witt, along with his band The Chemist, have built a solid name as rising stars in the world of contemporary music.
