About Me

adjultade is the project name for a collection of improvised music, images & sound-art by steve dAvis. steve sings, plays the alto-sax, with harp & various vocal sounds from Denise Davis & guest appearances from local mujicians. The four tracks featured here are a prelude to a full-length album to be released sometime in 2009 by drums & songs.the scalene is a vocal, saxophone & hinge experiment. This solid concept creates new territory for future sonic exploration. The bass is from a sequence devised by selecting random notes within a given ratio. The result is...well...triangular. The voice has been processed via reverb & megaphone. The lyrics owe more to The Drift (S Walker) than anything I can think of.THE SHAPE [II] features alto, brushed drums & bass and could well be the most radio friendly piece. It has been suggested that this improvisation brings in some of the Ornette Coleman influence, which may well be the key to the development of the adjultade jazz style.THE GLIDE is the theme & features some distant introductory harp, (possibly reminiscent of HOLY SEA by Butch Morris), & moves into a tune in phrygian mode, introducing saxophone, guitar & sparse piano.THE INDIGO DREAM is a work that allows the listener to reflect without feeling rushed or hurried along. Some say it is too slow. They have not yet seen or felt the indigo dream. These recordings have been created to provide a trigger for reflective thought and may provide some food for mood on the sonic future of hinges! Thanks for going with this & listening in!
