dont touch my guitar that aint a toy,so as a kid i was frightend.then he came to put it away then he said, you like this, then he said come here i came then he showed me how to strum it an i did an i was hooked.it was like a dream come true i never new was coming.starting at the top of my family musical tree was jazz drummer jackson burchett sr,where jazz begin to fall down the tree to my uncle jackson burchett jr aka (snick)playing guitar, then my pops mark burchett sr jazz saxaphonist, then from my dad,my brother jazz trumpeter mark burchett jr,to my other brother jazz bassis michael burchett last but not least guitarist chris burchett who loves jazz/all music that is pleasing to the ear.my dad before i played, all i remember hearing in the house was, whayne shorter,an john coltrane 7 days a week. i hated it i was so mad daily,i wanted to here rap an that was it!!!!!!!!!my dad had jam sessions at the house every sunday, honestly, i hated it but,i would always find myself going down in the base ment to listen, there was a jazz guitarist by the name of scott mcloud that always came over an played when i seen scott i dont remember which guitar he was playn on cause he had so many.but it mae me remember back into my childhood when i saw crawed to that cherry red sunburst johnny smith hollow body jazz guitar when i strummed those strings it sounded good to my ears. scott mcloud was the first jazz guitarist i really sat an saw in person actually play. at the time i still hated jazz but after watching scott mcloud play it wasnt jazz i liked, i kinda liked the guitar itself it was the sound on it,an to this very day scott always had a nice tone always did. i had ears to no what sounded good an what sounded bad. so time went on i grew up my dad was still having those jam sessions at the house every sunday. So years had went by still was hearing John Coltrane an Whayne Shorter every day i hated it so much as i got older i just laugh at it.so i made it to the eighth grade normandy middle school st.louis mo.me an my mom went up to he school to get me registerd an while in the registration line,a man walked up to us an said.Son,you play a instrument i said no,then he introduced hiself his name was Thomas Moore he was a jazz guitarist,he then asked if i would join the band i said no im not playing no instrument, then my mom said his father play saxaphone,i looked at her like why did you say that, just so happen him an my dad preformed together in a big band called the jazz edge,so he asked me again i said i dont like jazz i like rap i dont want anything to do with a band class then Mr thomas Moore said im gonna get you in,i was thinking yea right, next thing i no i got my schedule an it said exploring musical arts i was hot they wouldnt let me change my class i was heated.i then got in the class an he had us go in the back to get a guitar,an when i picked it up it made me reminess back to when i was 3yrs old n saw that cherry red johnny smith. The first day i was there i learned to play stump by kirk franklin. As the weeks went by i came to a brick wall an that was the blues,i couldnt put my fingers on the strings formed as a chord,it hurted bad everybody else in the class could do it the bass line an the chords i couldnt do either,i tried an tried but couldnt.then Mr moore said im going to put you on bass,so i switched, i hated bass cause i liked that cherry red sound,so everyday before band class,i would hurry to the band room grab a guitar before class start an play it before he made me put it down to get the bass so one day i said to myself im going to get my own guitar,so i did i went to a local music store an bought a $175 red guitar,i praticed 10 hrs an more after school some times all night,an i didnt tell no 1 except my parents, grandparents an uncle. So i self taught myself the guitar i taught myself all the songs we played in the band at school then 1 day i came to school with my guitar in a trash bag,an Mr said whats in that an i showed him,so i pulled it out an played all the songs they were doing an added to it, an from that point i was 100% back on the guitar with no questions.i just said to him i practice everyday an night...
So while staying up all night it began to pay off fingers didnt hurt i was winning best solo, awards jazz combo competitions an more then i had this thing i learned how to play the blues scale i thought that was it i had conqured the guitar i thought no matter what the key was of the song run the blues scale from the root,so as my dad an friends jamed every sunday i came down i didnt no all the extentions to chords but i had taught myself major minor dominate an deminish.to make a long story short i was playing some hedious stuff cause this wasnt middle school music,a couple months went by,i was on it i began to learn scales i was completly ahead of my class, i learned to follow chord progressions.I then started preformng in local jazz venues on a regular an began to be a professional, then i went out to a club in st louis mo called spruills where the legendary jazz saxaphonist willie akins preform every saturday,i sat in the crowed went wild, that felt really good.was i stage frightend????yesss!!!!!! NEXT THING YOU NO.. A jazz bassis gave me a call his name was John thomas he said his guitarist was sick,an asked could i do the recording, i was very sick at the time i had numonia,i said im there he said im on my way to get you,we recorded a cd named green with passion i was on tracks 4 an 7,it went great keep in mind this is all the first year me playing guitar ever im still in the eighth grade.
Then i made it to high school an was late to my first hour i bought a camaro with a 350 corvette motor in it an i was always gign the night be for,so while in school all i could think about was practicing i walked to every class with my guitar i couldnt let it go.wahile in the class i stared at it the whole period. i was really getin tired of school cause i wanted to practice. He then started to get in the circle of musicans an then began leaving town while in school in the 10th grade then just quit.
While in school I once had a teacher tell me I would never make it on the guitar and that it was only a dream. But she had no idea who she was talking to because im a person that never gives up on a dream. By the beginning of 10th grade I dropped out of school and got a job. The job was short lived because he was arrested and had to do time in jail. When Chris got out, his complete focus was on music and only that. Chris then accepted Jesus Christ in his life and gave up living in the world. See, even though Chris dropped out which was a bad idea he prove that teacher wrong he is having a sucessful career,GOD WORKS IN MESTERIOUS WAYS
Chris is now a devoted musician for Christ, his strategy is to incorporate Christ in everything he does. Now that Chris’ life has changed for Jesus, God has his hand on him.

Background from flickr user MY INSPIRATION CB: My inspiration is Jesus Christ, there is no other inspiration as far as life is concerned and nothing comes of higher value. My hope, wishes and overall wants, and needs, I put them all in the hands of Jesus Christ. God has never ever failed me not once. God inspires me so much, it’s unbelievable! The fruits of being an obedient son of God are wonderful. God has came into my life and taken a negative and made it into a positive. God has inspired my Guitar playing so much, when I play every note, every chord it is all dedicated to Christ. When my fingers burn across the guitar neck God is right up under my finger tips he pushes me, motivate me, inspires me to do more an I go do it and its like “spontaneous combustion” an explosion at any given point with Christ, Praise his name!!!
God has inspired me not ever walk with Satan again but to use him as a foot stool and step on him and from that point take a quantum leap in Christ. As you can see, you and I Chris Burchett have purpose and if we did not we would not be here, so remember God is God of all Gods, and God says be still and know that I am God.
CHRIS BURCHETT “MUSIC IS GREAT BUT GOD IS BETTER” Music is great but God is better. Most musicians that become famous or make a decent name for themselves forget about how they made it to that point. Without Christ nothing is possible and when you don’t praise him and give him all the glory, you fall short of blessings. What I mean is, God blesses many musicians with millions, sounds great huh? They live good, fancy cars, houses, and more, but they continue to live in the world other than living in Gods divine word. If they do not repented, at the last minute before it’s too late, the devil will take their souls straight to hell with a first class ticket. So I warn you musicians and others, Repent of your sins and LIVE EVERYDAY AS ITS YOUR LAST BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE CLOCK IS GOING TO STOP TICKING.
