I've tried for ages to think of different ways of phrasing this, to put it across so it's not just 'Myspace' and you, the reader, doesn't just assume it's some stupid facade. But in the end, I can't. It's impossible. I could say i hope this doesn't sound myspacey, and in the end I have, but by saying I'm actually more myspacey. I could have not said anything but still some would have thought I was trying to portray who you think I should be and not who I am. But in the end this is who I am. I do long winded and convoluted thinking. I do it cause I love it. That is who I am. I am Sam.
Simply, I'm Christian. But, thinking about it, I'm not. I admire faith, because very rarely can we say something for sure. Often people put their beliefs in science, others in religion. I believe that we all believe what we find most amazing. As such, that's a fair chunk of science for me. But I also find the idea of someone who loves us all whatever amazing, and that pretty much leads you down the christian garden path. I think people's beliefs are perhaps the best thing to 'judge' someone on, as to me they are ultimately the most important thing about them. They influence everything they do - from their morals through to their careers. I also beleive that faith, belief and commitment of any religious or scientific form really is a good thing for the world: despite the fact that recent disasters (terrorist atttacks etc.) are highlighted in the media, most of the good things that happen in the world come from a helluva lot of self belief let alone belief in the science they are persuing, or the God-driven good they hope to achieve.
It's my belief in science that I'm persuing right now. In the end, I believe science will cure many things that bring sadness, like AIDS and cancer of course, but also famine and starvation, droughts and flooding. For me, I'm persuing it to answer some questions I need answers to to continue with my life. That takes me down the physics route; so it's that for Uni next year. I love physics simply because it answers the fundamental questions of life and the universe, and provides the laws and restrictions for all the larger chemical and biological process we see around us everyday.
I also have a strong belief in my own morals. Which I hope encompass a general 'justness' and friendliness, as well as the personal, individual aspects of these ways of thinking. I know my own outlook on the world, but I also know that isn't going to suit every situation. I try to be flexible, cause we live in a very diverse world.
P.S. I take ages replying to comments. Usually go on a replying spree every now and then. Just so you don't get too annoyed! Let me know if you need a reply quick sharp!
