La Fromage was first established in Hungaria in 1974 by Ichiban Flop [Vox/Keyboard/Guitar], Sergé Flip[Keyboard/Guitar/Vox], Sophie Remalgam [bass] and Chris Chips [Rhythms/FX's]. Being pioneers within the electronic music scene they inspired many people around them. The first 7" "Fast Printers" was released in 1978 and gave La Fromage the opportunity to tour with the legendary Suicide and the next year their first LP "Antenna Up" was released. The title track also became a 7" and gave the band their first No 1 on the European charts.
The bands second LP "Lipstick and High seals" were released in 1980 which was a huge success for the Hungarians. The band went on a two year tour with DEVO, which ends in a summon. La Fromage claims that DEVO has stolen their image and their music. The dispute ends when La Fromage looses the band member Chris Chips as well as the lawsuit. Some years of darkness follows and a few EP's/12/7 are released, "Fresh as a Floppy" and "Garden of Cheese") and the LP's "Grand Royale" and "Songs of the forgotten Cheese" but the attention is not there anymore from the audience.
The last attempt of trying to reach their forgotten grandeur was the EP "Eyesight 360" which was released in 1985 but at that time the world had totally lost interest in the band and the split-up was a fact. Sergé and Ichiban start the band "FylFor Flip Flop" and their career is on the move again. After a few world tours for FylFor Flip Flop that fans starts to demands a reunion of La Fromage, but the duo refuses and claims that "what is done, is done".
But in the year of 2005 they got an offer in $ they couldn't resist and agreed on doing one last tour with La Fromage. Unfortunately the two other band members from the band couldnt join this reunion. Chris became a heavy heroin addict after the split-up and is not capable of any tours. Sophie "has her own company and is not interested in that kind of drivel" as she so nicely puts it. One thing is sure though: La Fromage is hotter than ever! Don't miss this!
