I love performing! In particular, dancing. My specialty is clogging and some Irish as well, but I enjoy all forms of traditional percussive dance. Pretty much if you name it, I can do it. I spent a few years touring internationally with my old dance group, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, and it was some of the best years of my life- so far! That is where I met my favorite road roommate and best friend, Maureen, who has continued to inspire me more everyday!
I hold a BA in theatre arts from MHC and held the captain title of the recently crowned 14 time national champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers for two years during my college days. Currently I am run a dance company called Sole Impact. If you are interested in seeing some promos, check out our myspace music page for videos.
I also teach traditional percussive dance around the asheville areal. If that is not enough, I am the director of several different dance groups besides Sole Impact, including Jingle Taps and the Lodge Cloggers which can both be seen performing in several different places around Western NC. I am also the dance program director for Joyful Noise Music and Arts Center in Weaverville, NC and the dance director at the Asheville Arts Center, and teach after school programs for the JAM Series in Madison County. For my last project, I just finished choreographing some of A Funny thing happened on the way to the forum for MHC theatre Dept.
In my spare time, which can be hard to come by for me, I love working out. I play the violin/fiddle. I realize they are the same instrument, for those of you questioning the difference right now, but I do consider myself to play both! I love baking gourmet desserts- hence the working out mentioned previously. I believe that the true chocolate lover can never really give up chocolate, and shouldn't have to. I also do make up design work. I like to make everyone look "real good." I also enjoy sewing and designing costumes for dancers, which can be seen on several dance groups in NC and on the road for guest artist dancers!
I love butterflies and have quite a collection of teapots, if you can believe that! And, I absolutely could not live without music in my life. It is what keeps me sane most days. I love mostly "world music" I guess you could call it, like celtic, bluegrass, singer/songwriters and more alternative kinds of stuff.Uncle Earl Music Video
