Franklin-based songwriter Liz Thurman received runner-up prize - "The Emmylou Harris Award" - for her contribution to the recent John Mayer Song Contest in Esquire Magazine. Each contestant submitted a musical interpretation using only a snippet of some unused Mayer lyrics. The contest attracted more than 2,200 submissions.-Nashville Rage
