Pierre-François Blanchard started playing piano at age 8, and enrolled the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 2007 for doing a master in piano jazz, and learn more about composition. He graduated on June 2009 his master degree.
After studying classical, he graduated from Saint-Nazaire Conservatory in piano jazz (D.E.M.), where he studyied with Guy Boistel, Charles Arnault, Hervé Porcher, and Pascal Lantonnet. In 2007, he got his teaching degree (D.E.).
Pierre-François is the piano player for Azure, a modern jazz quartet with guitarist Rogier Schneeman, bass player Eric Heijnsdijk and drummer David Barker. Azure made a first studio recording in April 2008 ; "When She Smiles", available on Itunes. Azure is steadily gaining recognition for their unique sound, interplay and lyrical compositions. They performed in The Haag Jazz Festival in may 2008 and 2009, Utchecht Jazz Festival in march 2009, and many other festivals.
Pierre-François is also an active menber of the boNObo trio. This great experimental pop project performed in the pannonica in 2006, in Espace Herbauges in 2008. boNObo-trio was on tour in Morrocco in march 2009, and invited the "Aïssawa confrere" to play with them. The second album "Polygamy" is now available on Itunes since 2008. boNObo-trio performed with Mederic Collignon in July 2009 in Festival Soleil Bleu
Pierre-François is also playing organ for "La Belle Vie Trio", an original trio (accordion, organ, drums) playing original compositions. We've been playing in "Les Rendez-Vous de l'Erdre" (2005,2006), "Europa Jazz Festival", and Bandaï Jazz Festival, Japan, in 2007.
He won the jazz competition of "St-Gilles Croix de Vie Jazz Festival" with Fabien Mornet, in 2006. Semi-Finalist in the YPF Piano Jazz Competition in 2009.
He also performed with Maïa Barouh, Pierre Barouh and Veronique Balmont in many places. (Festival Bobby Lapointe, La Moquette 2006). He also performed with Peter Erskine, and Mederic Collignon
