I am here for Friends

About Me

I have a strange mixture of likes and dislikes....In the winter I'm a footie fan, a Spurs season ticket holder! I'm very passionate about my boys and no one is allowed to be horrid about them (only me!)In the summer I'm a cricket fan and a member of Middlesex. At work I tend to work very hard and very long, but as luck would have it I get days off in the week and there is nothing better than to sit for a whole day and watch a cricket match!!I don' fully understand either but I manage to hold my own when I need to!Music wise when I was 10 years old I saw a man on the TV and thought (as any 10 year old girl would) he's quite nice..... Enter Sting from The Police..... However when I first saw the whole band my love affair with Stewart Copeland (the drummer) began..... I was completely obsessed with everything Police! I learnt about the problems in The Lebanon (Stewart grew up there) I learnt about photography (the band had cameras, although my dad refused to buy me a Nikon and made me have a Canon like his!)I love Egypt and everything associated with it (the band went!)There were loads and loads of things that thanks to one 3 piece band I have learnt about..... Can anyone say that about any modern day band?So after the band split I kinda forgot about music, although my link to the 80's pop has never really gone away and I generally really don't like anything 'modern'Now last year (2007) The Police announced a reunion tour and my world was turned up side down! I had never been about the see the band live and this was my chance!I saw them 6 times last year, the final being in November in Toronto on my birthday. Now the fans of Stewart Copeland have a web site and one of the members made a flag...This flag has taken on a life of its own and has travelled all over the world to many concerts... And whilst bashing hell out of his drums Stewart acknowledges the green monster!I had the pleasure to be flag bearer on my birthday in Toronto and the connection between Stewart and I just for that one concert is the most amazing feeling in the world.... I have a photo of the most beautiful flag point which was just for me!So.... now we come up to the modern day.....Not many bands inspire me these days.... They have a lot to live up to.... However I have found three bands who have inspired me and I love them all....One is called The Dunes, they are based in Toronto and I saw them as support whilst I was there.... They are in the studio at the moment recording their second album. I hope they will travel over to the UK real soon....The next band is called Fictionplane who supported The Police and the bands lead singer is Joe Sumner, Stings eldest son. I have now seen them 8 times and love them......Last but not least is The Storys. I saw them supporting Elton John in Plymouth last year and was completely blown away! Really, they were just fantastic! They have just released their second album and it is just the best! The Storys played the film the bank job too....I have only seen them twice, but am going to see them again in May 2008.My only other passions..... Apart my husband, who takes me to football and puts up with my band following...Are my two hairy monsters... better known as my two cats.... They drive me completely up the wall but I wouldn't be without them for the world!
