life is good, and then WOW!!! After 30+ years I was preparing to go on stage and I was introduced to a man who was running sound at this event "Hog Happnin' Festival in Shelby, North Carolina" the man's name was Stan Lowery. I shook his hand, gasped, and took a step back, in my mind I knew this was my brother but he did not know who I was, many years had passed. I didnt tell him til the show was over. Imagine trying to perform with your own brother running sound and him not knowing. Everytime I would look his way while performing I got choked up but I had a job to do . After the show and talking with my friends and my husband, RJ, they encouraged me to tell Stan who I was. I walked up to him and asked if I could speak to him, he and his wife Julie were eating lunch. he said sure. I told him I use to play with him when we were children, his wife asked me if we went to school together I said, no. I looked at him and said "you don't know me do you?" He was trying to figure out who I was. I told him I was his big sister Cindy. ( after comparing notes very quickly ) We hugged and kissed and he told me our father had passed away april 9, 08. I am still blown away. I found my brother and lost my father all in the same day. We also went to see my step-mother and 2 more of my brothers were there to greet me along with nieces. i also told the family about "Hereditary Hemochromotis" a blood/iron overload disease that can be fatal. It turns out most of her new found family are either carriers or have the disease and they are seeing doctors about it immediately.Lucy Johnson benefit: i was able to perform for lauren and her family 9/20. to see this little child smile was wonderful. our band was able with the help of many others to give lauren almost 1500.00. we will continue to help her with selling t shirts and other events to help others from domestic violence. check out our myspace at PIPAPELLI.
