Transylvania, NY was once home to (now defunct) Ameristein Laboratories, which conducted top-secret research experiments, mostly for the United States military. In the early '80s, one scientist/drummer named Jamal began a covert operation called "Ladystein." It resulted in three female music machines named Alana, Kate, and Annie - and the greatest band. Ever.
Ladystein writes songs. The songs are pretty. Sometimes, they are funny.
Ladystein rocks. They have rocked NYC at CBGB, Southpaw, Union Hall, Cake Shop, Pianos, Pete's Candy Store, Galapagos, Mo Pitkins, Ace of Clubs, Magnetic Fields, and anywhere people are doing the French Lulu.
LADYSTEIN HAS RECORDED A BRAND NEW EP ENTITLED "IT'S LADYSTEIN!" You can sample a few tracks above AND YOU CAN PURCHASE THE EP ON CD BABY HERE

Also, the critics love Ladystein! It's like Ladystein is Meryl Streep or something:
"The wry but sweet-natured band --until recently a duo, now a quartet--is bold enough to mention outsider-music heroes the Shaggs among its influences, and we can see the similarity, if the Shaggs had had self-awareness and had been able to play their instruments. "Tour Guide," about the necessary evil of schlepping visiting relatives to New York City's tourist attractions, should prove to be a season favorite." -- Village Voice
"Fusing humor with quirky, upbeat riffs the band Ladystein delivers a fun performance. The retro vibe of their sound mixed with their enthusiasm makes me want to go to a drive-in, a diner with a jukebox at my table and elect Obama's daughter for President. The group is grounded 60 years in the past and 20 years in the future." -- Logo Online
"The four gals in Ladystein harmonize about funny subjects, like their preference for doing the nasty while wearing socks (“Socksâ€) and the unfortunate task of showing out-of-towners around New York (“Tour Guideâ€). The quartet’s latest is It’s Ladystein!—it has a song dedicated to the Slinky. " -- Time Out New York
"Two [former] art students from NYU’s Tisch (who actually know Corey Feldman) and two others friends on drums and bass, create some cool, lo-fi pop" -- Dagger
"Ladystein is cute, girly, and reminiscent of eating Jujubes at a drive-in movie. Everything about this band screams 1950's B-rate horror movie soundtrack . . ." -- Beyond Race
"...the best effing cd of all time, Ladystein. They're girls from NYC who sing songs that sound like a combination of All Girl Summer Fun Band, April March, the Ditty Bops, and if Dawn Weinerdog from 'Welcome To the Dollhouse' had her own band." -- RadioRoxie
"The song "Socks" is notable for it's fantastic keyboard line. If the ladies ever become famous, that keyboard line will almost certainly get hijacked and used as the basis for some dreadful R&B song. Probably by R. Kelly, if he's not locked up by then." -- We're All Glad Here
"Seeing Ladystein live is like seeing the sun, but not being blinded by it. You don't have to use that box with a hole in it to see Ladystein. You just have to open your eyes because there's Ladystein. Right there." -- Professor Tom Gordonson, Eclipse Studies
