Mark Twain:
The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.

[email protected]I have been a meat eater, I have been a vegetarian and I have been vegan. Now if I desire meat - I allow myself to have it without beating myself up about it. When possible I purchase free range and organic products and convince myself I am not being lied to about the conditions in which the animals were raised and the goverment sanctioned chemicals added to my produce.
If I go to a party by myself I will have spoken to 90% of the room by the end of the night. Made friends, got email address and plans to meet for coffee in the morning. Sometimes I like to be in the middle of everything and sometimes I like to sit in the corner and watch everybody else make a fool out of themselves for a change!
I take my job seriously and give 100% but play time is PLAY TIME! I leave work at work. I enjoy seeing music performed live, all genres and will hit the festivals all summer long and local rock clubs in the winter.
I am a very spiritual person but I am not a christian, although I believe in god. I believe we are soley responsible for our own actions. The law of Karma. I do not believe that a person with a title (pastor, priest) can touch you and all of a sudden you are forgiven everyting and can then proceed to the next level. Bull. Thats a free pass. You must earn your own way, pay for your sins and strive to do better. Do not pass go do not collect $2oo. I believe everything has a soul and nature is divine. (Animism and Pantheism)
I love hockey. (ain't no fan like a hockey fan). I go to games in Raleigh when I can and watch them on TV. I enjoy boxing. Welter weights my favs. If I was forced to choose between watching football or basketball I would pick basketball.
I sometimes lack the ability to put into words what I think about our century and civilazation. I have found that many poets do it much better than I and so to that effect here is an example written by:
Alexander Pope 1688-1744
See, all our nobles begging to be slaves!
See, all our fools aspiring to be knaves!
The wit of cheats, the courage of a whore,
Are what ten thousand envy and adore:
All, all look up with reverential awe,
At crimes that ‘scape, or triumph o’er the law:
While truth, worth , wisdom, daily they decry-
“nothing is sacred now but villainy.â€
It is stunning to me that the political outcry of today is much the same as the last 50-100 years. Our governemnt still does not listen. As shown in the following example "The hand that signed the paper felled a city" by:
Dylan Thomas 1914-1953
The hand that signed the paper felled a city;
Five sovereign fingers taxed the breath,
Doubled the globe of dead and halved a country;
These five kings did a king to death.
The mighty hand leads to a sloping shoulder,
The finger joints are cramped with chalk:
A goose's quill had put an end to murder that put an end to talk,
The hand that sigend the treaty bred a fever,
And famine grew, and locusts came:
Great is the hand that holds dominion over Man by a scribbled name.
The five kings count the dead but do not soften
The crusted wound nor stroke the brow;
A hand rules pity as a hand rules the heaven:
Hands have no tears to flow.
The angst of the last century is still the problems of today. The examples are too lenghty to post here so they are in my blog section.
