So please, go listen to music in your town; go see an art show; go draw flowers on the sidewalk; and when you see someone, anyone, anywhere, anytime, just love them. "I bless you all living things. I bless you in the endless past; I bless you in the endless present; I bless you in the endless future. Amen." -Jack Kerouac (The Dharma Bums) ..

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.ryandavidorr.com
Band Members: ... For the most part, I cover the instruments and programming on the albums. During the recording of "My Fair February Notable Shimmer & Grin," Producer/Engineer C. Joseph Gough played some piano and keyboards. My mother, Dr. Teresa Dismuke, sang lovely backing vocals at those sessions as well. I had the pleasure of involving my friends Russell Tanenbaum, Todd Keeports and Ericca Heim for backing vocals on "Bagdaddio." The record to be released next year, "Subtlety of the Sudden," will feature a track with Jeremy Miller on drums.Live performances have featured Russell Tanenbaum on bass and Tom Maxfield on drums.
Influences: Where do you start with something like this? Okay, here goes: Pearl Jam, Tool, Tom Waits, John Steinbeck, Richard Buckner, Modest Mouse, Jack Kerouac, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Jane's Addiction, Michel Gondry, Tori Amos, CSNY, David Lynch, Blind Melon, Son Volt, James Taylor, Beck, NIN, Mozart, PJ Harvey, Donovan, Whiskeytown, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Jimi(Jimi who?), Bob Marley, Joan Baez, John Malkovich, The Breeders, Van Gogh, DJ Shadow, Elliott Smith, A.A. Milne, most Seattle grunge bands not already listed, Paramahansa Yogananda, Billy Bragg, Link Wray(inadvertently we all are, and its sad he's gone), Neil Young, Shakespeare, The Deftones, Thelonius Monk, Jackson Browne, Gary Oldman, Nick Drake, Stone Temple Pilots, Carol King, Alex Grey, Tennessee Williams, John Coltrane, all of my friend's bands over the years, Uncle Tupelo, Ram Dass, Bjork, Dinosaur Jr., Michael Franti(Spearhead and Disposable Heroes), Beethoven, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Martin Scorcese, Built to Spill, Gandhi, Cream, Radiohead, Mos Def, A Perfect Circle...okay, I'll stop there.
Sounds Like: Some of the people I've been told I sound like: Jack Johnson, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne. the music is sort of wankie indie rockish, so Modest Mouse maybe? Maybe Pearl Jam or Built to Spill. Definitely not like Willie Nelson or Ricky Martin(sorry)

Where have all the flowers gone?

It's all so crazy out there. It's so fast and merciless. I guess individually we might meet with stress and turmoil in successful ways, on a small scale. But collectively, we are flippin' nuts. There ...
