FOUR LADIES SAXOPHONE QUARTET

soprano sax Letizia Ragazzini, alto sax Laura Rocchegiani, tenor sax Sara Bazzigalupi, baritone sax Cristina Roffi)

is a recently formed group of saxophonists from Parma, Imola, Macerata and La Spezia. Its members studied at the Conservatories of Cesena, Pesaro and La Spezia and took Diplomas with distinction under the guidance of professors L. Derosier, R. Micarelli and M. Falaschi. They went on to study with internationally famous saxophonists, including F. Mondelci, J.M. Londeix, C. Delangle, J.Y. Fourmeau, A. Bornkamp, M. Marzi, M. Mazzoni, M. Gerboni, S. Jordheim, M. Albonetti, J. Sampen, and M. Giovannelli. Individually, they follow solo careers which have led them to the fore in major national and international competitions and to perform in Italy and abroad (Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, the U.S.A, and Hungary). They got to know each other during many years of participating in international specialisation courses, which led eventually to the birth of this all-female quartet, something unique in Italy and rare even on an international level. The quartet has performed for associations and established major events in various Italian cities (Festival dei Girovaghi, Parma; Festival di S.Pietro di Castello, Venice; Festival delle Nazioni, Portogruaro; IX and X Stage Internazionale del Sassofono, at the Conservatory of Fermo; Faenza Estate Musica, and the Ravenna Festival). The quartet first performed on the occasion of the IX Stage Internazionale del Sassofono 2002 in Fermo, and was immediately recognised as one of the most interesting of its kind. The “Four Ladies” can boast of collaboration with numerous composers, many recordings and participation in TV programmes. ________________________________________________________La vita è bella
