9CHIN is simply a metal band. They have combined old school thrash, southern power groove, hardcore, and all styles of metal from the 70's to the 00's to become a pure grain metal machine.The band formed in 2005 with Kerry Koltz on guitar, Mike Schepp on vocals, Dylan Koltz on drums, and Jay Austin on bass. Kerry and Mike both were in a band called Shrapnell thru out the 90's and Mike was also the original singer in cover band Tattooed Bruise out of Milwaukee. Jay was the bass player in local favorites Anshar. Dylan is Kerry's nephew and is the son of Shrapnell drummer Kory "HOG" Koltz. Thru out that summer they wrote 13 songs and decided to record a demo. They went to Breezy Point Studios in Beaver Dam and with the producing of Jason Lueck of Hated Identity fame, recorded a 4 song demo.By the winter of 2005 into 2006 the demo was completed. The band did a few shows with a great response from club owners and fans. The last show of that lineup was in July of 2006. Due to what most bands encounter, members lives were drastically changing. Mike quit the band and things came to a screeching halt. Well fast forward to early 2008. Kerry, Dylan, and Mike started to get together again. With the writing of many news songs and retooling some old Shrapnell songs they have honed a style and sound that is crushing and will leave you feeling like nothing short of getting smacked in the face with a led pipe. They haven't reivented the wheel but damn sure are having fun trying. Spread the word because:9CHIN IS HERE!!!
