Lino G. Rocha

About Me

Lino G Rocha is a singer/songwriter/lyricist/percussionist. Venezuelan born of Portuguese heritage and raised in London UK, Lino began his musical career in the late eighties performing with some of the top salsa bands in the UK including La Clave, Roberto Pla’s Latin ensemble and the notable Williams Cumberbache and his classic urban-latin Tumbaito to name but a few. This trend continued on an international scale with notable artists such as Yuri Buenaventura, Tito Allen, the late Charlie Palmieri, Juan de Marcos of Afro Cuban AllStars and Venezuela’s celebrated Grupo Guaco. Lino is currently the lead singer with internationally acclaimed Scottish and Edinburgh based Salsa Celtica: www.salsaceltica.com
Lino’s taste for the broader aspect of music has led him to collaborate with a diversity of artists, home and abroad. These include Canadian singer/songwriter Lorena Mckennitt as well as Nitin Sawhney, Pet Shop Boys and Matt Bianco from the UK. Lino has also worked with one of Spain’s top rock bands Danza Invisible and highly regarded flamenco guitarist Pepe Havichuela amongst others. Lino has an ongoing co-shared world fusion project with the up and coming band Voices of Nature: www.voicesofnature.net and is also working on his own project 'Soulatino'.
Lino’s vocal abilities have surpassed normal musical boundaries, easily blending various genres as and when required. These can be from soulful subtlety to urban rasping rap and all the way to street-wise Salsa or the passion of Fado and Tango and anything else in between. With Lino’s cultural experiences and command of the Portuguese, Spanish and English languages under his belt, it makes him one of the most prolific and talented artists on the music scene.
