A South Bronx native, with Puerto Rican roots, Venus creates her “visual recordings†through drawings, paintings and other mix media art forms. Venus began illustrating her life through her art, from the moment she picked up a pencil. As a teenager, she spent her days in the back of classrooms trading blackbooks and bombing with local writers and eventually landed at The School Of Visual Arts.
Venus describes her art as a mix of pop and surrealism, peppered with graffiti, comic and urban influences… the foundation of her creative expressions. She has had illustrations published in GONYC Magazine, YRB (yellow rat bastard) magazine, Street Literature Review and in the book entitled,†In Ya Grill†The Hip Hop photography of Michael Benabib ( Billboard Books.)Her work has been displayed throughout NYC and Venus has been doing "live' painting at major events all over the city. Currently, she is working on an illustrated short story and a series of new paintings.
Venus invades her audience’s vision and she reaches her audience with creative, visually tantalizing, and thought provoking concepts that reveal a world through her eyes.
