About Me
Wladyslaw Komendarek (or simply “Wladekâ€) is an instrumentalist and composer of electronic music encompassing numerous styles and fusions. He is of Polish-Lithuanian origin from the town of Sochaczew, near Warsaw. Wladek was born into an illustrious musical family with a long-standing keyboard lineage. His maternal great great grandfather was Michal Kleofas Oginski (1765-1833), the Polish statesman, insurrectionist and composer of the well-known Polonaise in A Minor, entitled “Farewell to the Fatherland†(Po--egnanie Ojczyzny). His maternal grandfather, Mieczyslaw Gudonis, was an organist and his father, Stefan Komendarek, played in Feliks Dzier--anowski's Polish folk band. During the Nazi occupation, Stefan, was forced to work in a German labour camp where playing the accordion helped him survive his captivity. One of W--adek's younger sisters, Ewa Komendarek, 1969 “Golden samovar†laureate of the Soviet Song Festival (Festiwal Piosenki Radzieckiej) was a singer and dancer for the State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, “Mazowszeâ€.From 1973 to 1983, Wladek was a member of the legendary Polish symphonic rock group, “Exodusâ€. He has taken part in a variety of different music festivals and concerts including the Polish rock festival “Jarocinâ€, international electronic music festivals such as “KLEM†(the Netherlands), the “Wellenformen†International Electronic Music Festival (Germany) and Ars-Electronica (Austria), and the jazz festival “Jazz Jamboree†(Poland). He is constantly producing new material as well as composing film scores and musical theatre. In his formative years Wladek was influenced, amongst others, by the following singers and bands: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, the Hollies, the Shadows, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Jimmy Smith, Refugee, Peter Gabriel, Yes, the Kinks, Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Supertramp, Ten Years After and Jan Hammer. Today he likes to experiment with different musical genres including progressive rock, metal, post rock, ethnic, industrial, ambient techno, DnB, trance, electro, acid jazz, R&B, breakbeat, psychedelic, GOA, garage, hip-hop, abstract, reggae, alternative electronic and jazz.StudioAs far as the studio is concerned, my favourite instruments are the Waldorf Q, Access Virus B, Nord Modular and the Nord Lead 3. All my old analogue equipment such as Roland's System 100, SH-2000 and SH-101 are always used for real-time recording. In addition I like to use various effects to model the sound such as the Warp Factory Vocoder, Filter Factory Analogue and MO-FX Multiprocessor.I work on two Pioneer and Denon players, whose characteristic feature is real time music composition with free-style play.Discography:
