Advices from Milwaukee say that on July 28, 2006, Sport of Kings died an untimely death. Milwaukee County medical examiner, Dr. Jeffrey Jentzen, has yet to discern a cause of death and it is unlikely that he ever will. "I see it several times a year. A band in its prime, who are poised to do great things, just ups and dies. Ultimately, we just have to close our books on the matter," said Dr. Jentzen. Several individual vigils were held in memorial by unrelated groups. "It's just so sad when they go so young. I just think they could have given the world so much more...Shit! I'm getting candle wax all over my leather jacket," said Ms. Marlene Kowalski who was in attendance at one such vigil held in Bayview. It is rumored that there was a valiant attempt to resuscitate Sport of Kings, but that said attempt, while heoric, failed.Sport of Kings leaves us with eight stellar shows (well....seven stellar shows and one not so steller show. See March 11, 2006 w/ Oh My God/Fuzee), a blistering live set on WMSE, a mini-tour with Omaha friends, Kite-Pilot, and the Triumph ep, which has not been nor will ever be released in any form or on any format. Those close to Sport of Kings say that it would have been the band's wish that any memorial contributions be spent at Cactus Club during one of Chris's shifts. We will miss Sport of Kings!
