"Ain’t it funny how we decide to do the same thing everyday of our lives…” M.K.B In many ways the songs of Michael Bernier are a natural gift of mesmerizing and inspirational beauty. This talented singer/songwriter, who has performed in vast locations ranging from Boston, Massachusetts to the Commonwealth of Dominica, in the West Indies, calls upon his worldly experiences when bestowing his art to captivated audiences. While performing in front of a crowd, Michael’s entranced eyes and inspired vocals evince his inherent passion for peace, love and unity, which is made outwardly apparent to all who experience his music. His songs are driven by redemption, by life and love, and perfectly depict familiar situations of the world in which we live today. His relentless determination to compose a different kind of music for the masses has initiated his creation of beautiful lyrics and melodies that easily compare to the greatest songs of our generation. Though born and raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael cannot be directly affiliated with a particular town or city because his life experiences are spread amongst the Earth he has traveled upon, always with his guitar, and always spreading his peace, his love, and his music to all he meets. His personal quest for salvation and inner peace has brought him to the most secluded areas of the world. It is during these reclusive escapes that Michael is able to manifest his capability and craft as a songwriter. Michael has performed countless shows across the mainland United States, but his true character and visceral elements are best conveyed in those remote areas such as Costa Rica and the isle of Molokai. Whether he is putting on solo shows on the beautiful beaches of Santa Teresa, or playing a full ensemble with his ambitious backing band, ‘The Uprising,’ in Boston, Michael consistently charms vast collections of audiences desperately searching for a variation from the monotonous sounds commonly associated with much of the music produced in today’s society. Currently ‘Michael Bernier and ‘The Uprising’ have been performing on stages across New England, and have become a household name in Massachusetts with their enigmatic performances, and with Michael as the charismatic focal point. ‘The Uprising’ consists of Ryan ‘Rybomb’ Bernier on bass guitar, Brian ‘Whitewall’ Wall on lead electric guitar, Mark Fiorentini on the drum kit and timbales, and new-comer Kate Karczz singing backup vocals. Michael’s intense drive to be heard and rock roots style is greatly complimented by these sensational musicians that he has personally selected to help make the music desired by his devoted fans. When witnessing a live performance by Michael Bernier one is riveted by his overwhelming positive energy and activist zeal. He is a raconteur who bares his true feelings and stories onstage to large venues and small groups alike. Though mainly known for his singer/songwriter abilities, Michael is quick to put down his guitar and angle the microphone towards his djembe to ignite a high energy tribal jam complete with soulful chanting that is guaranteed to get the crowd dancing and screaming for more. Following the release of his successful self-titled debut record from indie label Evolvement Records, Michael Bernier has orchestrated a new compilation of inspired material that will not only bring delight to his loyal fan base, but will surely capture the hearts of new listeners thirsting for innovative music that will stimulate their minds. Each song on the greatly anticipated album, ‘The Summer Is When,’ expresses his insightful views of life and our world. In the hook-heavy track, ‘Play Pretend,” Michael speaks of unattainable love and deception in a failing relationship, a situation to which many can genuinely and easily relate. The song flows with soulful lyrics and a beautiful acoustic melody, resembling the inventive style of Eddie Vedder, an artist that Michael spent a short period of time with at the blessing of Jack Johnson’s father’s boat in Molokai in the winter of 2008. This event lead to Michael’s writing of the vagabond theme song ‘Embrace the Road,’ a tune created on Eddie’s Gibson Blues King, a guitar that was left with Michael for the duration of his one month long stay alone in the jungle. In the song, ‘A New Place,’ Michael dares his listeners to follow their dreams instead of succumbing to the pressures placed on many by rigorous societal views. He challenges people to, “Stop all the wishing, stop all the dreaming, and put yourself in a position that normally wouldn’t be in.” This ideal is something which Michael has embodied since an early age through his travels to distant and obscure locations. For his new album release, Michael has produced a record deserving of worldly acclaim and recognition. Michael’s organic sound compares to the work of musical greats, Bob Marley, Jim Croce, Jack Johnson, Adam Duritz and Josh Ritter. His musical compositions and lyrical excellence are sure to strongly resonate with music lovers for many generations to come. Enjoy. ************************************************************ ** Michael Bernier has HEADLINED the following venues: The Middle East Downstairs, The Paradise Rock Club, Bill’s Bar, The Hard Rock Café, Copperfield's, The Middle East, Venue, Revolution Rock Bar, Church of Boston & The All Asia Cafe in Boston, MA – Southern Hospitality in Manhattan, New York - Harper’s Ferry in Allston, MA – The Moose in Malden, MA - Poco Diablo’s in Downtown Portsmouth, NH - Longboards, the Rosary Room, Tower Two & The Sandbar in San Diego, CA - Precinct, Johnny Ds & The SkyBar in Somerville, MA – Cenzo’s & WBIM in Bridgewater, MA - The Claddagh Pub, Jowa Lounge & Volume 151 in Lawrence, MA – Johnny’s Martini Bar, J.P.
