I Believe That Musicians Change The World...NOTE By NOTE...My groove is from St.Louis Mo...byway of the Bay Area,The Hills of Altadena,Compton, and now Carson,Cali. I got my first look at the world outside of St.louis from Albert King. He was driving by and saw me practicing with some guys in my backyard. He stopped, and gave us a few words of encouragement. "Never stop blowing that horn",he told me. A few years later,he took me own the road with him. We went from coast to coast, from Fillmore to Fillmore. I believe that's when I got the Cali.bug. On one of those trips back thru St Louis. Albert needed a Bass and a Guitar player. So I hooked him up with couple of guys I had been playing with, and we were off to New York. That's when I notice that the Hotel didn't have a 13th floor. Eventually we left Albert. And after being on the same bill with all those rockbands, like The Allman Brothers,The J Giels Band,Eadger Winters ...and a few others I can't recall...and seeing them up close too,I was hooked. When we came back to St.Louis ...we formed our own band. Got rid of the little amps and got us some big stuff...and we were a Black Rockband who played Funk,Rock and Jazz. I suggested the name "The 13th Floor", I always considerd 13 my lucky number, because my birthday is on the 13th. If you're born on the 13th, it better be lucky. Add to that, the thing about the hotels...and the whole New York experience. We became "The 13th Floor". We finished one album. " Steppin Out". We opened for acts like War,George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic,Bootsy,Maceo and Grover Washington. I say that to say...any thing I do will have some kind of groove in it. I Like going from Smooth to Groove, are from Xstreme Smooth to Xstreme Groove. I never do a song unless I feel something for it. I believe if I don't feel it...You Sho Won't... So far I've found that people like Me,just being Me...So thats what I'm doing on this CD. "Doing What Ever The Funk I Want" So check out some cuts....hope you find somethig you like.
