Vincent VanGo the Paint, the Canvas, the Big PictureThe Paint-Colors/Emotions
These emotions expressed through his artwork are joy, courage, hope and other of this nature. Emotions sourced from the memories of the ghetto and the struggle that he was forced to make the best of for a large majority of his life. Those same memories of the ghetto are also responsible for emotions such as disgust, sorrow, distress; also expressed through his artwork. May each hue and shade of VanGo’s paint be vivid in all’s masterpiece. The Canvas-Media/Hip-Hop
The Canvas is represented by VanGo’s media expression of choice, hip-hop. This canvas, needless to say, has taken a drastic change for the worst. The flow of hip-hop is at a creative, all time low; including but not limited to, concepts that conform and cloned “artistic imagesâ€. Besides the harmful effects of what “we†,the artistic community, cause for ourselves, hip-hop also plays a huge part in the on-going conspiracy to keep the urban community from reaching our potential as human beings, be it artistically, politically, professionally or an endless amount of other practice. The Big Picture-God’s Children/VanGo
“See, my bars paint/pictures like Van Gogh, never draw blank.†The author of this line, VanGo, was born as Orlando Sullivan in the city of Chicago, IL. VanGo was forced to bounce back and forth from Chicago and St. Louis due to his elderly uncle who was in need of assistance. This constant commute lasted until he was 15 years old, at which point Chicago became his solid residence. The hustle of the street life always remained consistent during him bouncing from state to state. Managing to stay out of the turmoil limelight, VanGo emerged with a different sense of culture empowerment. Music is his salvation, VanGo always has had music. Many can relate to the bond that music plays in our life. This relationship is a way to spark a movement for the dying urban leader. This relationship is why VanGo will be a powerful force in the world to come.
