About Me

Brian has worked with a distinguished array of well-known musicians, producers and recording artists over the course of his career as a drummer, vocalist and songwriter. After working in the San Francisco bay area for several years in a wide variety of musical genres, and with some of the area’s top musicians, including members of “The Doobie Brothers”, “Tower of Power”, “Uncle Rainbow”, “Face to Face” and others, Brian accepted an offer in Los Angeles to work with singer/songwriter Stephen Bishop. Over the next several years, Brian performed, recorded, and did television appearances with Stephen. He has subsequently worked with many other Los Angeles based recording artist, including “The Stations”, “The Rubinoos”, “Hearts & Minds”, and “Western Vacation”, a band comprised of Frank Zappa and Steve Vai alumni. On their album, “Vibraudoblast”, Brian composed five of the songs, and sang lead and backing vocals. Around this time, his song “Arms of the Enemy”, co-written with Gary Cambra and Fee Waybill was recorded by “The Tubes” and released on their album, “Genius of America”. Brian also has many commercial, television, and film credits to his name for music, but has also picked up three Emmy awards along the way for his contributions in mixing, and as a technical advisor. As a writer, Brian continues to work through his publishing contacts in Los Angeles and Nashville. He continues to develop and produce new artists at his home-based facility, “Capable Ape Studios”, and recently wrapped produced on two songs for the number one selling South African alternative rock band, “Contra”.Premade MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider

Band Members: Just me baby! Charimoya says: "Brian is a singer/songwriter with his feet firmly planted in the pop/rock tradition. His songs run the gamut from heart-felt ballads to hard-driving rock. You can hear influences from Jazz, to R&B, to the British Invasion here, all blended with sincerity and a dash of sarcasm into a clear, well-produced musical voice.".......SHE'S SO SMART! O.K., I should mention that my friend Steve Smith played keyboards on "Patience", Tommy Lockett played bass on "Charimoya" and "Undeniable", pal Matt Downs played some electric guitar on "Lap Dog" and "Before Me Now", chum Doug Marcum played guitar on "Searching For Alice", buddy James Book played bass on "No-Good-Nick", brother Greg James played mando & banjo on "Shades Of Blue", the South African dynamic duo of Warren & Max payed various guitars on "Undeniable" and mate Steve Horton blew his trumpet. Now, not all of these tunes will get posted here, but big thanks to you cats for your friendship and musical contributions just the same. There, my conscience is clear..... Whew! OOPS! HOW COULD I FORGET?! Mary James & Emma James: Crowd noise help on " Dancin' Beverage of Choice". Mary James: BG vox on "No-Good-Nick". Emma James: Outro voice on "To Be Wonderful". They're so sweet........ Mostly.
