My love for Labrador Retrievers has been with me for a very long time and still is the heart of training retrievers and hunting. When I was a youngster I was throwing birds for derby dogs. Growing up and seeing quality retrievers I was just amazed at what retrievers could do at a higher level of training. While in JC and I wanted to study veterinarian medicine. However the love and talent I gained for retriever training was a natural high. Training for Gun Dogs, Hunt Test and the Field Trial Retriever was time and dedication. I later decided to become a retriever trainer. It was always there since I was a bird thrower at a young age. Once gaining the experience I joined the PRTA. The Professional Retriever Trainers Association had many great trainers. I have seen many Field Champions and National Champions during my training from Escalon, Oakdale California and Nevada. I later joined Swan Kennels in Sanger, Texas. It was an experience! Luckily starting at a young age I gained knowledge and respect in the field from clients and the retrievers. So many retrievers and so many clients came and gone. I found another passion through training and that was teaching the owners how to handle their dogs. Once that was a success I took a new challenge and began to guide upland game bird hunts with fully trained retrievers and went on to waterfowl from there. With the 15-20 years of Amateur Status/Professional experience I have spoke to many trainers, handlers, breeders and read good, bad books and seen many videos. What I learned to do is what would work for me in my training program. As of today I am no longer training I currently run Hunting clubs for upland and waterfowl in the Northern California. My waterfowl efforts in conservation have led me to also be encouraged by advice from some of the finest of callers such as Tim Grounds (www.timgrounds.com) to speak of who has been such a encouraging and person to assist me on my goose calling as well as many others. The calls I blow today are quality calls for success in the field. The Sean Mann speck call which is fantastic speck call that works wonders here in California. My duck calling was from the beginning almost 25 years ago of a call maker by the name of Emery Mitchell of Novato, California-Iverson Game Calls. Another call maker who has been such an incredible call in the field was from Chico, a., Joe Larres. Mike Keller, the Big Guys Best have been my top calls I use today. My passion today is big game hunting that has captured my attention on wildlife management. From meeting Gordon Eastman and having a short clip in his hunting video, The Deer Hunter!
