C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra

About Me

The C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra is a small and mobile performance ensemble of rotating musicians and visual artists. The Arkestra (our apologies to a dear fellow traveler who would understand, Sun Ra) performs four times a year, on the Solstices and Equinoxes, and records each performance.
The C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra issues albums of each performance, and its final performance will be December 21, 2012, or thereabouts, assuming we're capable of playing anything on that day. Obviously that will be the largest and most intense celebration too, and hopefully will involve a significant portion of the human race in one way or another.
The Convergence Conspiracy Collective formed near the end of 2002 with a desire to express a unified vision of radically transformed consciousness: a human race which "gets it", which has somehow miraculously grown up and come to its senses.
Ridiculous, yes, we know. Surely such a thing could never happen, right? Impossible, easily dismissed, and only fools would choose to believe in such a thing. Right. Well, happy fools are we.

Influences: MikeR sez:
If I throw out a name, it doesn't necessarily mean I've listened to a lot of that artist. It does mean what I've heard has changed the color of my skin, so to speak, and affected my sensibilities in some important way.
Sun Ra, obviously. Though maybe not obviously, cuz Sun Ra didn't indulge in pure improv like we do. He wrote pieces, scored for a small orchestra, etc. But hey, the guy was from outer space!
Frank Zappa, especially for his intelligence and humor. And of course, because he cut through all forms of bullshit to express the (sometimes not very pretty) underbelly of human nature. And he expressed it musically.
R. Crumb, for the same reasons as Zappa. He managed to express his vision in color forms that linger in our psychedelic imaginations, which, of course, affect all of our expressions, even music.
Brian Eno, for his highly intelligent sense of proportion, the ease with which he cuts across musical genres, his gentle promotion of minimalism in music, his sheer lyricism with not a trace of sentamentalism.
Aldous Huxley
Stewart Brand
Kevin Kelly
Bucky Fuller
Karl Pribram
Terence McKenna
Rupert Sheldrake
Alexander Shulgin

and many more ...

Goon wan sez:

    Ansel Adams
    Harry Calahan
    Man Ray
    David Lynch
    Edward Weston

Cecil Nixxon sez:
Inspiration
The innocent eye cast openly to the sky.
3am Christmas morning, no one's awake yet.
Granola snack break on the precipice of a giant, virgin cavern.
Life in the universe as a constant, not merely an accident.
A sense of hope that can't quite be expressed in words, let alone sustained by faith.
Influences
All the prophets, and all the prophets yet to come, all the jokers, all the children. Always remember that our children's children's children's children will be genetically foreign to our present bodies and therefore time travel will be hazardous.
Sounds Like: The C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra is a movable feast of entertainers. While the core group provides consistency on which a quarterly performance can be assured, each performance features one or more guest artists.

The C3 Psychoto-electro Arkestra does not sound like itself.
