When in the studio, numerous factors are responsible for the top-notch productions coming from this group of three Toronto men. Amongst those factors, Experience and Expertise stand out.
Tarl Armes has been producing electronic music for nearly two decades, with early releases under the names Positronic Brain and The Alliance (under which he produced numerous records for M-Zone’s legendary TYT & UK44 record labels). At the end of the last millennium, Tarl began working with Alex Beckett, who had also released tracks with M-Zone on his Warning imprint. Eventually the two formed Aponaut, and began to gain a following with their style of banging, in-your-face Acid Trance. With a few remixes and numerous original tunes, they were soon playing live shows at clubs and raves across the country. Their smash-hit, “Warpathâ€, became an instant anthem to hard trance lovers and DJs worldwide and was featured on dozens of compilations, including industry leader, Sony Music’s Tunnel Trance Force. To this day, Warpath is a crowd favorite and can be heard around the world.
Fast-forward to the present: 2008. After a brief hiatus from producing together in the studio, Tarl & Alex realized that their passion for music never left. Together, they enlisted longtime friend and fan Dan Goulet (aka DJ Bacchus). With over 7 years experience spinning hard trance and hardstyle – and performances alongside some of the biggest names in the genre – Dan was a natural addition to the team. His intuition for electronic music and experience working with crowds helped to form the project known as acid-xs.
Wake Up, their first release on German Hard Trance superstar Sam Punk’s upcoming label, Also Records, features a ripping acid line, huge drums and a massive build. With support from some of the top names in the biz, the release is bound to make waves in the hard dance scene. But this is just the beginning. Already, follow up tracks are in the works – with a focus on techy drums, phat basses and scorching acid lines. Keep your ear to the speaker, and your feet on the dance floor – acid-xs is ready to put Canada back on the world’s Trance map.
