About Me

"These unholy kid geniuses from Long Beach drench their slowly building drones with every effect they can get their hands on, which makes their songs vertiginous and easy to get lost in; (the) singer..., a witchy chanteuse with a voice like a Slip 'n Slide, could pass for Robert Plant after a couple fistfuls of Seconal. It's unclear what they're going for: Tribal surf psych? Transcendental postpunk? Rehab-bound goth-folk? Whatever it is, it's two things most bands aren't -- exciting and promising." -Chicago Reader
Discography:

"Women and Gold" CD
from Leisure Class Records
"VRYP is a 5-piece verb and their official debut, “Women and God,” is an utterly enjoyable and groovy fucking cephalopod experience, with tentacles of influence abducting 80's Britpop (Pornography era Cure, for instance, in overall sound—not attitude) and no wave highlights while simultaneously extending ahead toward unique horizons. The CD begins with a touch of sentimental electronic seduction, but quickly moves away from anything resembling easily stroked heart strings. That said, their semi-angular hooks are undeniable, and their somewhat warped melodies are glazed, grazed then razed by vocals which bump the music to the next level with frantic immediacy. ...this deserves to be heard."
-P. Somniferum of Foxy Digitalis
don't touch me, i'm the ghost of magnetism 7"
"VRYP are a young five piece from Long Beach, California with an intense and splendid approach to waffle dynamics. (The) "Don't touch me" (7") tosses Buckley/Plant vocalese into slow, stressed out drones created with a variety of instruments (stringed and unstrung) that tend to devolve into brilliantly repeating figures. Some of the guitar feel reminds me of the great Dreams Of Tall Buildings, but the vocals take this into real unexplored areas." - Byron Coley of WIRE magazine
tourniquet rubdown cd (self released)
40 bands 80 minutes dvd (sounds are active)
“The sheer range of talent is astonishing. From sandwich makers to noisemakers, laptops to a more traditional rock lineup, 40 BANDS/80 MINUTES! gives a glimpse into a scene that will continue to explode” –Jason Glastetter, CMJ
