Hailing from Eugene, Oregon Soulscythe are a crushing mix of brutality , technicality , and melodicism. With both deathmetal and blackmetal influences, Soulscythe infuse elements of various sub-genres of extreme metal through the use of classical composition.
Soulscythe started in 2003 in prison after the breakup of the deathmetal band "Of Purest Fire" due to tension in the prison enviorment and considered a threat to incite violence (as well as the band "Corrupt Human Art" featuring brothers known in "The Lords Of Chaos" book and currently awaiting execution on deathrow.) After various members were moved to other prisons to assure the breakup of the band Soulscythe was forged.
Soon after remaining Soulscythe member was released, new members joined to become the first incarnation of Soulscythe. After playing a few shows and struggling for the next few years members moved on to other projects. Soon afterward new members were found who also play in the blackmetal band Tormentium. A few drummers have sat in the throne since then from Nick (Abbadon) to Robbie (Submortal, In the Name of God)
A portent of the future of the bludgoning Northwest death/blackmetal scene we hope to reap the souls of the weak and sonically cast minds into the real abyss that those few of us have travelled...
