Hey! I'm a 23 year old college student from Burlytown, Ontario. I'm also a DJ, and that's why I have this page :D This page was created as a blog of my DJing career. After going on long tangents about it on my regular journal, I decided to split it in two. My regular blog can be found over here.
Enough intro. Onto Music!
Decor est Validus, Valid est Decorus
This is my philosophy for music. Loosely translated, "Beauty is powerful, power is beautiful." I find this true with Trance especially, (Adam White's Angel Dust - Chimera? Good lord!!!) It's my ultimate goal whenever performing, and eventually with production.
Music is an addiction to me. Just found something I wrote a little while ago that seems to sum it up... "You become less bothered by the fact you're well into four digits in the hole, because your music collection is a veritable aural orgasm"... Hell yes! The more I do this, the more convinced I become that this is something that has to be a part of my life. One of my favourite quotes is by Armin Van Buuren, and reads; "This is just what I want. It's not love for music, it's a passion. It goes beyond liking, beyond a hobby, it's about a way of living. Music is essential for my life."
So you're probably wondering by now where I spin. Right now, club nowhere. I'm still pretty green, with only a year under my belt on the decks. I've performed once live before at the grace of DJ Weasel. It's almost time to head out into the real world. I'll blog about the progress about that here. On a vaguely related note, "Club Nowhere" by blue man group kicks ass.
Next question; spin what? Primarily and foremost, Trance. I made a CD in 2002 without really ever listening to electronic music. Despite what a few people thought (*cough*treefrog*cough*), I wasn't satisfied with the overall quality and shelved production for a while. A few years later a friend pointed me in the direction of Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, etc, and I realized the sound I was trying to create was Progressive Trance. Long story made short, I picked up the tables and learned to mix.
Now that I've just passed the 1st anniversary of DJing, I've started picking up other styles. Drum & Bass, Progressive House, and Ambient/Chillout. These are rough guidelines, at best. Good music is good music.
That should pretty much give a taste of things here for the time being. Thanks for stopping by, do come by often as I usually post new mixes when done recording! With a little luck, skill and suave I'll also post live set dates and events here too :D
Cheers! ^_^ .|m/
About this 8-person friends list:
Bah! I hate the idea of trying to rank my friends in top-8 fashion. So in completely random intervals I'm gonna shuffle who's on my front page. Deal? Deal!
