Forget what you think you know about Salem music, because you have no idea. Your mind, as well as your ears, are about to be blown. This is AMAZING music. It features Rock, Indie, Folk, Celtic, Trance, Hip-Hop, Bluegrass, Shoegaze, Experimental, Harp Guitar, Metal, Irish Punk, Garage Rock, Latino, Choral, New Age, Classical, Progressive, Digital, Folk-Jazz, Singer-Songwriter, Blues, Funk, Sierreño, Psychobilly, and Roots music. You will love it.The proceeds from the sale of this CD support the Culture Shock Community Project, a 501-C3 non-profit effort to spark a deeper social consciousness and build a better and more engaged community.)It has been an exciting (sometimes arduous) experience bringing this collection
to fruition. In the two years since we began the project, all of the music we had collected for the first attempt was stolen; the lead of our project leaving due to the great American migration (he moved away); the budget for the project disappearing when another project of ours ran aground. But, we believed in the project and were determined to see it come together, so with the combined forces of our two organizations founders, Karen Holman, Dayna Rogers and Ryan Rogers, we pulled it off. And may we just say, in our humble opinions, that it is completely awesome, and we have no doubt that you are going to love it.Disk One:

Salem, Oregon boasts an incredible range of music, talent, and creativity right within it's borders. And it's not alone. Include Corvallis, Albany, Monmouth, Silverton, and other Mid-Valley cities and you have a brew of some brilliant and original music. However, Salem has oft stood beneath the shadow of more assumed cultural meccas like Portland, Eugene, and even Seattle and Olympia. Now, while these are all fine cities with brilliant music in every one, Salem no longer wishes to be perceived as their frail younger sibling. The Salem Soundwave is here to prove that we can stand alongside our cultural brother-and-sister cities and truly rock. (Not to mention rap, folk, jazz, bluegrass, punk and metal.)The Salem Soundwave is currently focusing its efforts on music, but is hoping to expand it's partnership, sponsorship, and support to all the cultural and artistic passions of Salem. In fact, we look forward to the chance of working closely with other local Salemanders to spark a renaissance of Salem, Oregon culture. We will be using this MySpace as one of our beachheads. Bands will be able to post info about their upcoming shows and projects, we will post news and resports about the local scene, the page itself will feature music and videos of local Mid-Valley favorites, and more as we evolve. So join in, friend us, and get involved. Bands are encourage to post their show fliers and posters on our comments page. Let's all see where we can go from here.CA Special Thanks to The Funhouse Strippers and Mill Race who helped us immensely in putting this collection together, and to The Nodding Tree Remedies who have always supported us and helped us through thick and thin.Funhouse Strippers - A Murderer's ThumbMill Race - A Garden Gnome, The Garden Never KnownNodding Tree Remedies - Robofry (live)
