Argh!!! Can't believe that these chaos punks who called themselves as Acid Rain is still survive! With only an original line-up Dean with his new company, they are now ready to attack your ears and your mind with new musical direction and straight-forward fuck off lyrics.Originally Acid Rain started as The Explosion for a few months back in the early of 94 somewhere in Penang. First line-up was Henry - vocals, Dean - rhythm, Wandy -bass, Wazie -lead guitar, and Yusri - drums. They are more into 80's British punk sounds rather than Seattle grunge sounds (the time when Nirvana was a major trend). First rehearsal was a funny coz they don't really know how to play an instrument. Everything has been changed due to some numerous practiced and they wrote their originals as the bands going serious. They played their first ever gig at Resistant to Noise (Lost Paradise Rest Home) an underground beach festival a la Holiday in the Sun on December 95. Acid Rain was voted, as the best band for the night due to their straight minded played nothing than all originals set.Debut demo atmostfear?out in March 96 was recorded at Soundproof Studio, Penang with 6 traxs of raw and solid punk sounds and some said it next to the UK SUBS standard. Great responded from local punks were received and most of locals punks fanzines started to cover them by interviews.Lead vocals, Henry was kicked out of the band on the same year. Acid Rain still carried on with four-piece line-up with Dean switched into shouting department and still strummed the rhythm. While the rest of the worlds were trying to recover from their hangover, these guys recorded and released their second demo chaos May 13th? Recorded at I-Cat Studio, KL, this demo gained great responded from locals and overseas punk circuits. 5 songs contaminated the demo including their most shocking anthem all the time î“®LS?Matnor a long time Acid Rain roadie, a great punk rocker was recruited as a new guitarist to give Dean more space to shouting. Anyway there was something going wrong happened and too many fuckin?backstabbers at the time and cost Acid Rain nearly disbanded. Yusry left the band and followed by Wazie. After long time rest in chaos, finally Dean met Joe a.k.a Uncle Joe, a great punk rocker assuming bass duty while Wandy switched to drumming. With this line-up, they formed a notorious troop called northern Riot?and toured the first gig outside Penang on November 1997 at evenge of the Revolution?Malibu cafe KL. Unlike others who are busy signing deal with local indie label, they set up their own unregistered label Northern Riot Records and finally a long awaited debut EP coup d etat?unleashed somewhere in July 1998. Recorded at Hits Recording studio with pro-D.I.Y duplicated and pressed tape, this EP exposed the band to worldwide punk around the globe.Wandy had to left the band due to several problems and Uncle Joe recommended Fitri (The Conclusion) to beat the drum kit. In the midst of 1999 Uncle Joe called it a day and voiced his retirement from punk scene. This will be effected Acid Rain. Dean decided to get a new bass player and finally Jai filled-up the vacancy with so much energy. About more than enough uncompromising new numbers penned but still yet to be released.Uncle Joe felt that he can't lives smoothly without punk, decided to make come back and he handling tour job for Acid Rain, as he agreed to become the band manager while doing session bass. To date they done about 19 or more gigs and still keep busy playing and organizing gigs. The latest released was a compilation tape from Splatters Records stand Strong & Proud?along with GAS, The Splatters, Verbal Chaos etc? and streetpunk anthem cdep.......
