ZOMG Lauren moved to DC!!!

If [Death] comes near me I'm gonna rip his nipples off!

About Me

So Hi! I'm Lauren, I grew up in South Florida, moved to StL for school. I like anime, computers, 3am steak n' shake runs, all sorts of music, all movies, classical literature, ancient history, and Hello Kitty. I'm a bit of a geek at heart - I play video games, read books, make a living manhandling computers, and never spend more than 30 minutes "getting ready" to go anywhere! I dislike ignorant people, arrogant people and controlling people...and Internet Explorer. I just recently got a new job as a webmaster at a health care recruiting outfit in south county. Some of my favorite places are the art museum, the zoo, some place with live music, just about anywhere else in Forest Park, and my fabulous apartment with my super comfortable bed where my teddy bear is always waiting for me.
I'm not sure what else to say here, but I love getting to know new people. You can message me if you want, on AIM I'm teknochikita217 and on Yahoo I'm webmistresslauren.

My Interests

I'm a total she-geek...I enjoy video games, anime, star wars, star trek, dr. who, and RPGs. I'm girly as well - I like crafting, cooking, baking, yoga, music, art, animals at the zoo and my baby kitties! I've been doing cardio, kickboxing and aerobics DVDs to aid my weight loss efforts as well.

I'd like to meet:

The people who write IE's css support...so I can kill them. I'd like to meet Orlando Bloom too...I'd drug him and take him home. Some other people on the list are Peter Jackson, the guys from Disturbed, and whoever wrote Shakespeare's plays.

Music:

Mostly rock and heavy metal, some techno, some classics, a little bit of randomness here and there...to sum up, just about anything (my tolerance for country has always been really low, the lovely ladies at work are slowly breaking me in, but I only have so much tolerance for the "woe is me, my dog died and my girl left and my truck broke down and my roof leaks and my left testicle won't descend" stuff). Stuff on my playlist includes Metallica, Evanescence, Disturbed, Waking Ashland, Muse (yay thanks B-Chan!), Rancid (yay thanks Dino!), Adema, The Killers, Linkin Park, Death by Stereo (yay thanks again Dino!), Gorillaz, Garbage, Hellogoodbye, My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Radiohead, Story of the Year, MC Frontalot, Enigma, Therion...the list goes on for a while.

Movies:

Capoeira Vs Muay Thai

W00t! An interesting video about Capoeira and Muay Thai (thai kickboxing) from some cheesy movie and yes its very dramatized but it still illustrates the basics. The capoeira dude gets pwned at the end, but he puts up a good fight. He's the one doing all the flippy shit (just so ya know). It's all about constant motion, usually in a circle pattern. And yea, I totally look like that when I do it, btw. :-P It's a brazilian martial art developed by african slaves...they sorta "disguised" it to look like dancing so the slaveholders wouldn't be like "hey, they're doing martial arts." It's not quite as structured as traditional martial arts either...it's treated more as like a game. It's really fun.
I like anything and everything. Some personal favorites are anything Jay and Silent Bob, anything by Miyazaki, LOTR, Boondock Saints, FF7 Advent Children, Shrek, Star Wars, Office Space, Amadeus, Shakespeare in Love, Princess Bride (yes, I'm a girl), the list goes on for a LONG time. I love movies!

Television:

I watch a lot of style network, TLC, History channel, animal planet. I like a few random shows like Grey's Anatomy, Sex and the City, and Six Feet Under. Adult Swim has a special place in my heart, as does South Park and performances by certain comedians (Lewis Black, Dane Cook, George Carlin among others). In typical girl fashion, I also like reality shows: Project Runway, Wife Swap, Beauty and the Geek, Top Chef, Girls Next Door, etc.

Books:

The Fountainhead, Dante's Inferno, Homer's works, anything Shakespeare, As I Lay Dying, Slaughterhouse Five, the Harry Potter collection, a lot of fantasy books, this list also goes on for a while.

Heroes:

My mommy and daddy
