About Me

Born in Kalamazoo Michigan & Raised in Jackson Michigan. Deontae Pierce "PierceOnBass" discovered his connection with music at the age of 7 listening to 60's & 70's Motown & to his uncle's band rehearse & then sneaking & playing their instruments when they were gone lead Deontae to peruse his musical aspirations. Deontae comes from a musically inclined family, Cousin & Grammy Nominated Jazz Vocalist Betty Joplin & Platinum producer, song writer & guitarist Ricardo Love. In Jr high School & summer band camps Deontae took interest in & practiced snare drum, trombone & tuba. Later in life Deontae submitted to the calling and picked up a bass guitar, shortly after his peers in the music gave him the name "TOUCH" now his alter ego. Friends in the music said Deontae has a certain touch on the bass. Now living in Atlanta Deontae works sessions with up and coming bands and artist. He also plays with various musicians & maintains a close connection with his music mentor, trainer & professional bassist Gary Wilkines. Deontae is currently studying Bass with the Berklee college of music online with near future plans to attended on campus to receive his BA in music performance & composition.

Influences: There are so many influences, so of the top James Jamerson, Alex Al, Jaco Pastorious, Nathen East, Gearald veasley, Victor Bailey & Larry Kimpel, Harvey Mason, George Benson.... But reality is that I gain some sort of influence from everything that I see or listen to, from Billboard top 10 to local's on Myspace.
