It all began February 17th 2007 when DW Frydendall and Gris Grimly decided to make a movie after consuming a bottle of red wine and a bottle of whiskey. No preconceived concept. No script. No storyboards. No tripod. No dolly. No crane. No lighting. No crew. Just two inebriated minds following an unconscious flow of creativity. Two hours later and a budget of a loaf of bread, a bottle of mustard and one soiled curtain, the film was shot. In the following days, the film was edited and sound was added completing the first Buveur De Cinema film, THE CRAVING.The exercise/experiment was so gratifying, that it was decided to continue making films based around the same concept. The second film came about sporadically as well. DW was sent to pick up a publicity cake sent by Warner Bros. to promote the new Batman movie. When he retrieved the cake, he found it had a phone number written in the frosting. When called, the ringing in the cake eluded to the cake containing a cell phone. DW called up Gris and said, "I have a cake with a phone in it! Bring your camera and beer. We’re making a movie!" Although it took some pleading to get Gris to leave the house with an art show deadline, he eventually could not resist the call. The second movie, THE JOKER’S CAKEHOLE was made.A third film was sure to follow. That film was ZEPPO: EL EXORCISMO. This time the crew increased in size and more equipment and props were used. But the basic rules still applied.THESE ARE THE RULES OF BUVEUR DE CINEMA: 1. Although the concept of the film may be preconceived, there is no script or storyboards. 2. The equipment used must already remain in the possession of the film crew. In other words NO RENTALS.3. The budget must not exceed $1004. The cast/crew must not exceed 10.5. Everyone brings beer.6.
