...goneys loop has been silenced...the last of the old country boys...a free spirit..generous..loving ...tender man. the old home place is quiet..all that lingers are the memories....he is free at last..........our brother..uncle..father..husband...cousin...friend.....RIP... ...shelley goney...june 12,1954-december 22,2008----------------------------------------------------- -----------------------mother & daughter....( anyone else we can rope-hog tie to sing with..) we love & respect old timey music....we are fans of all music....we just hold this near & dear to our hearts...... The Goney-Loop is spot of land we were raised on....u know ( i doubt few will )....carrying water from a spring that runs out of a rock in the hillside....drinking daddys homebrew in the cellar ( with promises of only one cup ).....lol....ok....he quit making moonshine liquor way before....reckon he made some purty powerful stuff in his time..... poor mommy...." id rather be a rich mans darling...than a poor mans slave "..... i think daddy taught her that....classic stuff...u know...the stuff that songs are made of.......old timey ones... Aunt Arie picked a guitar & aunt Milda (listen)played the air box...my mother singed along...lots of laughing...daddy recording on a old reel to reel...memories of music all along the way..... first time i heard Johnny Cash....backporch with brother & sisters & a old paperbox record player.... first time i heard of Hank Williams.....mommy was washing clothes on a old scrub board out in the yard....a neighbor was walking up the road & hollered " hey Dollie...did u hear that Hank Williams died last night "...she sat down on the ground & began to weep....she loved him..... first time i heard the carter family...dont know...they have always been....... see we are not scholars of music....we are not refined....we are old timey.......we love the music.................song catchers....song writers... I guess this little patch of music is dedicated to the old Goneys.....at the Goneys-Loop.....where outlaws..bums...little kids...preachers..rehab rejects...are always welcome....
