GaragePunk Podcast "Ich bin mein eigner Herr
und keiner ist mir gleich,
so weit der Himmel blau ist
so weit geht auch mein Reich!"
This Bavarian saying best describes the philosophy behind the Munich based livery-brand and fashion-label HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN. It can be translated as follows:
"I am my own masterno one is alike,
as far as heaven reaches
my realm extends!"
This saying is, as well as the HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN – Collection, is dedicated to everyone that is ready and willing to strike new paths, not being afraid to break rules and crossing boundaries to have spiritual revolution and freedom as a permanent companion.
Every "Lederhosn" – design (painted by tattoo-virtuoso Martin Radtke, then embroidered onto the pants) is interpreted in the style of classic tattoos. Each design is based on- and dedicated to a Bavarian rebel, poacher or libertine. Due to the combination of the distinctive tattoo-style and the motives, which are Bavarian figureheads, two forms of expression from literally contradicting culture groups have been combined in one product.
Basically, the Bavarians are very positive but, at the same time, very displeased people. Displeased in the sense, that they have enough of trends without any attitude and awareness of life, without any substance and backdrop. Displeased with the textile facelessness and the bland and insipid pabulum, that is roaming through the cities and gets planted into the brains of masses as a "MUST HAVE".
HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN has created a polarizing fusion, which affectionately combines regional Bavarian tradition and livery with classic tattoo-culture in an expedient and aesthetic way.
The aim is to burst cultural boundaries and to display liberty in fashion, making so called gray-areas disappear. Clear statements are being set in a way, that brings back the fun and light-heartedness in fashion during times, where it’s been becoming cold, dull and unemotional.
HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN designs are manually drafted with ink by the famous tattoo-artist Martin Radtke . They are a symbiosis of Bavarian history and heraldry with the roots of Rock ..n Roll – tattoo culture. Regional themes are picked up, just like the homage to the first big Bavarian Rebel, Matthäus Klostermair, known as "Bayerischer Hiasl", who has been courted with a HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN Lederhosn.
There has been a lot of support from designer Lola Paltinger , who gained worldwide publicity through her extraordinary and high quality Dirndls (female counterpart to the Lederhosn).
The HIMMEL, ARSCH & ZWIRN - Collection currently comprises about 40 pieces and is pooled together with Lederhosn, Shirts, Polo-Shirts, Dirndls, Blouses and Accessories. The Collection is produced by Stockerpoint , a well-known liveries-manufacturer from Bavaria.
