About Me

Hi there. I'm an actor/writer/remixer-type. Available for hire. I run a recording outfit called Rural War Room Records International Online featuring out-of-the-ordinary performers - mostly from Arkansas.
I am also known as DJ ApeShit. Recently informed that I'm a remix pioneer. Yay! Thanks BPS, DBS and Steph. All this time I was just quietly doing my DJ ApeShit music thing thinking it wouldn't have an audience... who knew?
The music playing on this page is from extensive Mash-Up archives, which date back to 1985. More mixes posted soon.
Half of a duo, the world's first cyberband called RURAL WAR ROOM since January 2005.

Began creating audio and video remixes, now known as Mash-Ups, in 1985 with a pair of dual-cassette jam-boxes from Sears and a couple of VHS machines. That same year began VHS video experiments with two recorders, one of which had a "hi-fi stereo" overdub feature allowing for sound to be added in "post." Got a Juno 106 and a Clarion 5 cassette 4-track studio in 1987 and began blending similar popular songs into single cuts (Mash-Ups) adding keyboard, bass and sometimes vocal or guitar parts. Recorded throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, incorporating more unusual sounds - toys, micro-cassette noise, skipping vinyl, cassette sync effects and nature to expand the sound spectrum. Continues mashing today with vinyl and tape. A student of Japanese Mutant New Wave music and films that played on The Forty Deuce or "Deuce" in NYC from the late 1950s to the late 1970s aka "grindhouse" films. Collects vinyl, musical toys and vintage films.
Has run an independent production company, Closecut Mediaworks since 1997. Just finished remastering audio depositions from Little Rock's bizarre McKool Murder case for a 2009 Lifetime made-for-TV movie. Closecut has also had video features on ABC's 20/20 in the now-famous Cooper Tire cast of 2000.
Closecut Mediaworks has included partnerships such as First Strike Records, and No Outlet Productions. Releases from both are now available as products published by Rural War Room ASCAP. Upcoming CD releases include Johnny Future, RURAL WAR ROOM, Tammy Loretta Judd, Bob Wall, The Real Jonzes, Mr. Santa, Red Octopus Theater, Kold'n Hostile and others. All are linked below.
Upcoming releases on Rural War Room Records from long-forgotten artists include compilations of 78rpm and 33rpm vinyl records. These recordings are from lost genres such as "Audio Stag", "Heavy Breathing", as well as rare "Black Party Records" and other lost recordings from the 1940s to the 1960s.
