--The Coldspot 8 was formed in 1997 with direct intention of roots. Starting off like we should have with "ska". just like how this music was started, ska was the first wave and so ska we did. our first show was at diy records in orlando, fl playing to a very well recieving crowd of ska fans. from that point on it is all history. we started adventuring into other genres, like jamaican r&b, shuffle, rocksteady, reggae, rockers, dub and even dancehall, all of which gives coldspot incredibly deep roots. we first recorded a short session which turned into our much sought after 7" record mama julie/dont hold back. with that in our pockets we decided to record our first full length put out by beatville records(from dc at the time), called "its the feelgood". with some short tours up and down the east coast and venturing a bit into the midwest, it was time to record our second full length album, "get on high". this has been a long awaited release and was put out through stubborn records in cooperation with jump up records. the musical intensity is amazing. coldspot 8 is a family, we love this music and so we have made it ours. roots ya know!make
