At the ripe age of 12, this talented artist began rhyming on the street corners in Toledo, Ohio. Born into a musical family, where his mother was a well known local singer and his step-father a drummer, this young man was exposed to a variety of music at a young age. This Toledo native grew up watching his parents perform. Witnessing their love and passion for music inspired him to follow in their footsteps.
In 1999, performing under the name, Strezz, Ron won 32 MC Freestyle Battles at the infamous Top Cats. Soon he began performing with his parent’s band, Epitome.
In 2003, Ron released a Mixtape, called Ricktape, Volume 1, which could be frequently heard throughout Cincinnati. Not long after, he captured the attention of CEO, Sean Harper of Shortfuse Recordz. This chance meeting lead to Ron recording a catalog of unreleased songs, which is currently housed in the Shortfuse vaults.
While patiently waiting for his music to be released, this amazing artist has been perfecting his skills. Ron refers to his lyrically style as, “That Sheesh†because when people hear his music they are immediately drawn in by his lyricism. The terms “sheesh†has become a trademark word in his rhymes.
“I don’t rap for dummies, but if you cant catch my metaphors and alliteration, my swagger and cadence will bring you in,†said Ron Ricks, AKA The Sheesh Dude.
