The Wind-Up Birds are occasionally spotted by the keenest observers in the West Yorkshire region of Northern Britain.
They are larger than the average bird, have a grey, dour plumage and an unusually intense, piercing stare.
They generally travel in a group of four males.
The Wind-Up Birds are mainly recognised for their song. Once heard, no one can forget their awkward, screeching, unsettling call.
Once thought on the verge of extinction it now seems that their numbers are swelling, and more than one learned expert has expressed fears that “The Wind-Up Birds may yet take over the world!â€
